Prof. Julio Guzmán was a key member of HEMPOL from the beginning to December 2021 when he retired. Julio Guzmán was born in Huelva, Spain, in September 1945, and was Research Professor at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (CSIC) since 1987. He received his PhD at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid in 1972 and after three years working at a chemical industry, he incorporated to the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (ICTP-CSIC). The main interests of his research along these years were dedicated to the study of configurational, mechanical and dielectric properties of polymers, kinetics of polymerization and molecular and ion  transport in polymeric membranes. He has supervised 11PhD Thesis and published more than 170 articles in high impact journals such a Macromolecules, Journal of Polymer Science, Journal of Physical Chemistry, etc.
